First foodie post of 2018! We had a little health scare set back this month (my appendix got angry & needed to be removed in an emergency type fashion), but trying to get back out there to try new places. We visited @griffinclaw in Birmingham, MI tonight for dinner & drinks. I had the peppered bacon Manhattan, while the Hubby sampled a flight of craft house made beer. We split the mac & cheese bites, and the truffle burger. Everything was great, we loved the vibe of this very cool & unique microbrewery. #griffinclaw#birmingham#detroit#foodie#goodeats#craftbeerandcocktails#truffleburger#burgersandfries
A reviewer said this was too boozy. EXCUSE ME THERE IS NO SUCH THING. Thanks for this raggedy-ass beer. I liked it.

Planning for Future After Rapid Growth
By Jon Sicotte, Brewer Magazine
After rapid growth early in their development, @griffinclaw Brewing had to quickly look to its future. That meant a shift in packaging, opening a new facility, increasing the size of the brewhouse and tripling capacity, all in a short amount of time for the metro-Detroit brewery.
“We planned this expansion two years ago because we could see some of the writing on the wall,” said Kyle VanDeventer, the brewery’s Sales Director. “We’re still only in the state of Michigan and a majority of our sales are in the Metro Detroit area. We have big plans on expanding that halo this year and with big sales plans come big production plans as well. Thus the need for expansion.”
That means a new 33,000 square foot production facility, moving from a 17-barrel to a 50-barrel brewhouse, switching to mostly 16-ounce cans. This after what had been planned for a 3-4,000 barrels to start in the first year ended at 9,00 and grew to 18,000 in less than three years.

Tomorrow at @clubhousebfd from 12-8, join us for “Breweries vs Frosbite!” This is a winter, social event you SHOULD NOT miss. We will be giving away tickets for brewery prizes at the door for people who donate cold weather clothing items. Larger donations qualify for larger winnings! We are especially interested in the often overlooked: unused socks, gloves & hats. **Prizes are surprises!** Cheers! ❄️ 🍻
This is our #NewYearsEve tradition beer.(w/@phillipsmg) @griffinclaw flying buffalo barrel aged imperial stout. Such and amazing, boozy and delicious stout. Always a great last beer of the year!
🔥🔥🎊Happy New Year🎊🔥🔥
Griffin Claw Ob.Liv.I.Ous: wheat wine aged in Bourbon barrels (10%) and the 1/100 Barbatos Lupus Rex on deck. .
I've had this one aging for about two years (it's a 2015). Smell is straight alcohol sweetness, a toffee, caramel, and molasses scent that carries into the flavor. Smooth as hell. Light carbonation and a thin head that dissipates. Fire🔥. Cheers, builders 🍻
