we are only here because of the sacrifices of those who came before us. from our gurus to the martyrs and generations of our own direct family. i remember stories my grandma would tell me of how as a little child, they escaped the killings of sikhs during partition. how as a little child she hid under the covers of blankets in a carriage fleeing to the india side of punjab and leaving her home, simply because of our faith. yet this is the story of so many sikhs. our mothers and fathers, grandparents, and all those that came before us, gave so much, experiencing insults, racism. They sacrificed their limbs, saw their children being swept away, to their own lives being taken, so that today i could have the freedom to say these words to you. they are the reason i’m able to go to the gurdwara, perform seva, listen to kirtan and hold the teachings of my gurus close to my heart. i hope you take the time to ask your grandparents of their lives and the stories of those that helped us to get to where we are today. we are beyond blessed to have the opportunities we have today. ~ inder 🧡🙏🏽💯
