First day of my front squat program but I think I’m not going to finish cuz my delts can’t take 3x a week for 6 weeks straight 😭. Worked up to 255, the weight isn’t an issue, it’s not being able to hold the bar cuz of this nagging tendinitis causing the bar to roll forward. Clean PR of 245 lbs tho. 6 sets of 2 at 190lbs. #HappyMonday again! Made it in finally! Totally mixed up my routine and did day 3 instead of 1,but killed it either way! #warmedup and went for #backsquats @@@@@ 135lbs for a set of 10. Then bumped it up to 225lbs for a set of 8, then 275lbs for 6. Then I bumped it up again to 315lbs for a few sets 4x4. Then bumped it back down to 225lbs for another set of 8. Then down again to 135lbs this time for 3x5 with a pause. After that #OverheadSquats 5x10 @ 95lbs, #OverheadLunges 3x10 @ 75lbs. Then I went for #BoxJumps 4x6, #FrontSquat 5x5 with a pause @ 135lbs, then finished off with #legextentions for 100 reps @ 125lbs, then bumped it up to 130lbs for the last 20 reps. Feeling great! After that I went for #trxhandstands, then off for some variations of #leglifts 4x15 alternating back and forth. #StayMotivated

What if I told you, back squats AREN’T king? 😱 (insert morpheus meme here) Now now simmer down, before you knock it, try a pistol squat, and IF you can do one, well then try 2, or 3. Feel how much your quads and glutes get activated while using just bodyweight! 💥 - If youre a powerlifter, then by all means squat away. I’m not anti-squat by any means, but reading @michael_boyle1959 ‘s work, as well as @camjosse ‘s latest, ive been doing alot more single leg work. Let me tell you my back has been thanking me 😅 AND I’ve been able to challenge my legs with less than half the weight I can back squat, crazy! 👀 - Im in week 6 of my programming and I decided to get a little creative, banded split squats working on the concentric part of the lift. Who knows if these will do anything but hey thats whats fun about doing your own programming 🤷🏽‍♂️ - Instead of your typical back squats, try single leg squats, lunges, reverse lunges, or split squats like the one im doing here, as your main lift. Start with bodyweight, then progress to dumbbells, and so on 🍑 - And if you’re an athlete especially, last time I checked running, cutting, going for a layup, are all done off one leg 🧐...But whether your goal is hypertrophy (muscle growth 💪🏽) strength 🏋🏽‍♂️, or longevity, incorporating unilateral exercises can be extremely beneficial!
