Wrapping up the week with another gem from Founders Brewing Co - Backwoods Bastard a scotch ale aged in oak bourbon barrels! #SundaySuds#BrewedForUs
Dirty Bastard by Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, MI is today's review. This is in the style of a Wee Heavy (previously a Scotch Ale). It weighs in at 8.5% ABV and 50 IBU'S. Bottled on November 11, 2017 (2 months old at the time of tasting). Served at 52F.
Overall Impression: This is a full-bodied, dextrinous beer with dominant caramel and dark dried fruit flavors. It is highly drinkable and very satiating. Its sweetness is malty in character as not cloying. The alcohol presence is expertly hidden and there are no fusels detected. Overall, just a fun and tasty beer to enjoy. I will acknowledge that this is one of my go to beers and it never disappoints. Yes, I would order this again at a bar.
Aroma: Med-high caramel, fig, date, raisin, and malty sweet. Moderate earthy, dark dried cherry, and cocoa. Med-low woody and leather.
Appearance: Pours a very deep ruby red/ almost brown. Med-high, dark tan (like the foam on a latte) foam that has great persistence and med-high lacing.
Flavor: Med-high caramel, malty, date, and fig. Moderate earthy, woody, plum, and fresh cherry. Med-low burnt sugar. Finish is med-high malty sweet. Alcohol flavor in med-low. Aftertaste has a med-high lingering of moderate dark dried fruits (dates, raisins, cherry) with med-low earthy tones.
Mouthfeel: Full body with med-low carbonation. Med-low alcohol warming. Mouthfeel is creamy and dextrinous. #DirtyBastard#FoundersBrewingCo#WeeHeavy#ScotchAle#Arizona#PhoenixAZ#ScottsdaleAZ#GreenwichCT#Cicerone#CraftBeer#Beer
#LizardofKoz#FoundersBrewingCo 🇺🇸 #Cheers ! 🍻 @foundersbrewing Imperial stout brewed with blueberries, chocolate and vanilla, aged in bourbon barrels.
Salud!
Hopefully 2018 is treating you well! Starting things off with a 💥 • Founders Brewing Co • CBS - An imperial stout brewed with chocolate and coffee, aged in maple syrup-bourbon barrels!! 🇨🇦🍻🇨🇦 #brewedforus

Digging back into the archives for a little Flashback Friday on the Sill!
Have you joined the Founders Cadre yet? According to Merriam-Webster, a cadre is “a group of people having some unifying relationship.” As far as Founders is concerned, that unifier is an enjoyment of beer that “pushes the limits of what is commonly accepted as taste.” Join up to get exclusive news about releases, events and meet-ups, and even cadre-only contests. It’s pretty cool!
Now, let’s talk about the Rübaeus. Do you like raspberries? You do? Well, fill up your bathtub with water, and pour as many raspberries as it takes to make your tub overflow. Hop in! That’s what this beer tastes like! It’s bright, fruity and refreshing… unless you don’t like raspberries.
ABV: 5.7%, IBU: 15, Available year-round

CBS was born when @foundersbrewing stumbled upon some bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. This Canadian Breakfast Stout has nodes of rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate that meld together in what can only be described as a transcendental drinking experience. Come in and taste for yourself, while supplies last.
Tonight's choice while watching the game. This has become one of my favs from Founders Brewing Co. The ABV is 9.0% so it doesn't take many to get you right lol. It's a brown ale brewed with Sumatra coffee. It doesn't disappoint. #foundersbrewingco#riseupatl#FOOTBALL
Founder Brewing Co 🇺🇸 - KBS 2016 (12.4% version) - This may be a shelf beer even in Sweden these days, but it’s a damn good shelf beer. Of course i’m not blown away like the first time i tried it, but as far as bourbon barrel aged coffee stout goes this one is still solid. Now i can’t wait for the release of CBS in Sweden in February 😃
