Throwback Thursday is dedicated to Andrew ! This was last Tuesday. My boy Andrew and myself trained ropes for the first time together. 💪 We made observations and took note to perfect form and technique. We talked about working on lower body alignment and getting more depth on that squat. That shoulder work tho👌 this boy is strong ! Sometimes you just want to have some fun before doing your squats. Especially when the gym's empty and COLD! I never know what to do with my hands during walking lunges, monster/banded walks etc, so I like to carry things. Makes me feel a little less awkward and the added weight is just a bonus 🤣 Finished off today's workout by just hanging around for a bit (get it?). I just hang there till my hands get sore and I can't hold on any longer. Some people will say it's good for spinal decompression, I just think it feels good 👌

Because it’s Friday, I wanted to do a little #flashback to when I thought that this look was everything! I craved being lean and skinny! Pull-ups and chin-ups are 100% the hardest thing for me. For a while I never practiced them, just because I know I’m not good at them. I now try to do them weekly and the goal is to work up to doing them without a band. I did alternating grips for sets of 5 here. The thing I love most about todays world is the access to capture life moments so easily and effortlessly. I like to look back at photos and videos to capture my perspective, remember how I felt that day. In this picture, I remember I was excited - getting to San Diego for the first time seeing some of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. It reminds me that I need to spend more time doing things that bring me happiness, and less doing those that don’t. I’ve learned that the key to success, isn’t money or material things. It’s happiness, and living on your terms doing what you love to do every single day. Unfortunately, a large part of the population doesn’t live like this and just say “well, thats just the way it is.” No, it’s not the way it is. It might be the norm, it might be what everyone else does.. but I’m telling you if other people can do it, so can you. - So what in your life do you do on a daily basis that doesn’t bring you any happiness or value? I challenge you to start doing MORE of the things that do, and less of the things that don’t. I guarantee you’ll start feeling much more fulfilled, happy, and positive. If you don’t like going to the club on Fridays but you go because Sally always does then stop doing it. Yeah, you might lose Sally in your life - but who cares? If it isn’t something you enjoy, growing you, developing you and making you better then you don’t want it. Be weird. Be the outcast. Be the person who would rather go to the gym on a Friday night - or take a vacation with yourself. Probably one of the most consistent insults I’ve gotten, other than holocaust survivor, is “you need stop skipping leg day 😂😂😂😂” ironically almost every insult I’ve ever gotten has come from a person who couldn’t do a push-up without getting winded. ❓ MUSCLE CONFUSION❓ ~ 🛁 The phrase “Muscle Confusion” has been thrown around a lot, maybe you’ve heard of it? ~ 💧 The idea behind it is that you must constantly be switching up your workouts (Exercises, Sets & Reps, underwear brand) in order to “confuse” your body into thinking it’s making progress, so it actually will. ~ 🛁 Alright the underwear part was a joke but you get the idea.. ~ 💧 Unfortunately, the idea of muscle confusion gives people an excuse to not stick to any one workout plan, and as a result, not give it a fair try. ~ ❄️ THE TRUTH ❄️ ~ 🛁 In reality, your muscles do not get “confused,” rather they adapt to increases in overall work load (i.e Progressive Overload). If you were to stick with the same big exercises for weeks or months at a time while focusing on Strength improvement and tightening up your form, I’m willing to bet that your progress would be far better than if you had switched everything constantly. ~ 💧 In order to improve work capacity (arguably the highest standard of fitness), you must get stronger or better over time. In order to do that, your Central Nervous System needs some time to get familiar with the movements so you can master the form and optimize your strength. ~ ❗️WHAT YOU CAN DO❗️ ~ 🛁 Of course some variety is important for learning what you enjoy and what works for you. So always be learning new things, but if you think what you are learning is great, give it a fair try! ~ ✔️ Did you find a new program that you love and think will help you? Stick with it for several weeks at MINIMUM to see if it works. ~ ✔️ Always make sure you are training some form of the basic movement patterns (Squat, Lunge, hinge, push, pull, core, explosive) ~ ✔️ If you have any questions about your workouts, ask me! I am happy to help you move in the right direction 😊 ~ 💧Remember, variety is important, but it is less important for beginners as you need to master basic movement fundamentals in order to really see improvement. ~ P.S If you’re wondering what’s with the bath tub and water drip emojis, I wrote this post while in a hot tub and drinking water. Simple as that 😂

Valentine roses are still pretty 💁🏻‍♀️ went for a short run today but been feeling pretty down today. I’ve read an article about accumulative fatigue and I might have a bit of that🙈 the point of the article was that runs don’t happen in a vacuum and stress and tiredness of previous runs can build up. This is exactly how I feel. Luckily I don’t have any injuries 🙏🏻 but I do feel my legs are tired prob for doing 15mile last sat. So this weekend I’ll take it easy and only do long walk in Madrid 🙌🏻🙌🏻 so that next week I can come back stronger 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️👣

Check out these stretches and tips from us at HRF! (Perform each stretch for 30-45 seconds and repeat 2-3 times) TOP RIGHT: IMPROVE YOUR ANKLE MOBILITY - Stand on a step with your toes, dropping your weight down until you feel a stretch through your Achilles and calves. BOTTOM RIGHT: Hip Flexor stretch - Leaning on the front leg, push your body weight forwards until you feel a stretch on the inner thigh. BOTTOM LEFT: Psoas Stretch - placing the back foot on a box/chair etc with your knee on a pad/cushion, push down into the ground until you feel a stretch in the psoas muscle. 💕today, I am SO GRATEFUL 🙏🏼 that this one said YES!!! it took a year and a half for her to realize that fueling her body right could be so EASY!!!! check out Carrie's story... #THANKFULTHURSDAY post coming at ya! Y’all. I am SO thankful for this nutrition system. Like, SO thankful. Thankful to be off the crazy train of yo-yo diets. Thankful that I eat real food that my kids will eat too and don’t have to waste time with multiple menus. Thankful for 20 lbs gone and kept gone! Thankful for the gift of feeling comfortable in my own skin! Thankful for Day 1 and “before” pictures that keep things in perspective. Thankful for 660 days of fueling my body with the best stuff out there! Thankful that Sarah Scott told me about Isagenix in the first place!
