"How to make healthy choices when you eat out at restaurants * Go in with a plan. Look at menus before you go (you can find some on web sites) and decide where and what to eat. Many chain restaurants offer healthy menu options that follow Weight Watchers or other eating plans. * Avoid casseroles. They often have sugary or salty sauces and lots of cheese. * Choose steamed, baked, or boiled vegetables, rather than those in sauces or with cheese. * Choose beverages without added sugar. I’ve gotten quite a few DM’s and questions about the red straps around my thighs...for starters because they are tight around the thighs it REALLY makes the butt pop lol butttt (no pun intended) that’s not why I’m wearing them 😉 🔸This technique of training is what’s known as occlusion training or blood flow restriction (BFR) training. 🔸My husband and I aren’t into training fads so we’ve researched BFR for a while before making a purchase. It turns out there’s plenty of actual scientific studies that support occlusion/BFR training. No bro-science here 🙅🏽‍♀️! Well what is BFR? 🧐⬇️ 🔸The basic premise of BFR is that is obstructs (never completely stops) blood flow to the veins of a muscle. By not being so tight that it stops blood flow completely, it still allows blood to come into the muscle but the veins struggle to take it back to the heart. So the blood pools and this equals a CRAZY pump which further equals faster muscle and strength gains! There’s more to it but that’s the basic principle 😉 🔸If you’ve trained before you’ve no doubt experienced a training ‘pump’....that ‘pump’ is the exact same thing regarding the pooling of blood but with BFR it’s taken up several notches. Of course as with all things there’s a proper way to use them and a wrong way so definitely do your research 👌🏽 🔸They can be used for the arms, legs, glutes and calves. My husband said he’s never experienced a pump like this before and neither have I! I think my 🍑 was at least 1 inch bigger while using them lol, next time I’ll measure. After the first use I can confidently say the pump was REAL and I’m excited to put them into my training. 🔸This definitely isn’t something you HAVE to do to make progress so don’t think if you aren’t using them you aren’t training right...as with most fitness supplements and equipment- it’s optional. Use if you like and don’t if you don’t. We’ll see how quickly my body responds to repeated use of these bands so I’ll keep you posted. Questions and comments??! Please make them below 👍🏽💪🏽 • • • •

Last week I started tracking my macros and here is what I discovered and why I won’t be doing it anymore . . Just because something is “good” for you doesn’t mean it is right for you . . The positives. I did discover that my protein was a little low and my calories were way too low for the amount of exercise and movement I get in a day . . The negative (for me personally) I am an over achiever and the desire to hit a certain number is a slippery slope. I also know that I don’t feel well when I eat a lot of carbs. I also don’t do good on super low carbs. It is a very small window that works for me and typically I can tell when I need more or less. But I was over eating carbs because a calculator told me it’s what is best for my body and it just wasn’t . . I also found myself eating more processed food because it is easier to input into MyFitnessPal and that also meant adding back in a protein shake and bars just to hit a number . . My anxiety has been higher this week, sleep has been disturbed and I’ve had breakouts. . . I am happy that I did it because I do need to eat more and I do need more protein sources and that is valuable information. But I do not need to eat foods that I know don’t work for my body just to hit a number. And I also need to trust the process and keep eating healthy real foods and I might take a little longer to build muscle or lean out but I feel good. And feeling good is so much better than anything. Health is wealth and I am going to listen to my body

One thing I always yell to my clients towards the end of their set when there’s only a couple reps left is “PUSH THROUGH IT!!” This is because your body stops between what you can do and what is too hard, but if you just push a couple more reps than those are both progress. When you feel you're eating perfectly and you're still not losing weight or making progress, your probably intaking more calories/energy than you think. Some foods are either very calorie-dense and you don't realize truly how much you're consuming while others are less calorie-dense and you are consuming way too much of them... ...let me do the explaination: 🥜 Peanut butter, though extremely healthy and one of my personal favourite foods... 🥜 + 🍌 + 🍞 = 🤤 (yes, emoji math is the only math I do) ...is also super calorie-dense for a small amount! 1tbsp of peanut butter is about 100 calories and I guarantee most people unknowingly put more than 1tbsp on their sandwhich! 🍲Oil is similar to peanut butter in that when you line a pan with oil before you sautee or cook something, you are probably using more than 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil, each of which contain about 120 calories! 🍷Alcohol, on the other hand, is a bit different in that maybe a shot of whiskey or even a bottle of beer is not all that calorie-dense, but a night out with friends and all the extra drinking that occurs can really add up. 🍨And fat-free products are actually quite low in calories per serving, but it's exactly that which makes people think they can go ham and eat the whole container. Now, I am super against counting calories as you can see in a post a couple days ago and this post is in no way me saying for you to do so. However, they do exist and do matter. Be mindful of your nutrition! Eat a wide variety of nutrient-dense foods, but have higher volumes of those with lower amounts of calories such as fruits and veggies while smaller amounts of things like oil and peanut butter!
