Initially dedicated to growing fruit for the local colonial officers, it later became known for cultivating the medicinal plant ipecacuanha. For this reason the garden is also known as Ipecac Garden.

Bidding adieu to a legacy: the Indian Air Forces’s MI-8, christened “Pratap”.
The MI-8, which has been an integral part of several operations taken out by the IAF has been phased out. “Pratap” has been a part of expeditions to Antarctica, rescue operations in Siachen, Sri Lanka, UN missions in Congo and several other missions taken out by the troops. The fleet first arrived to India in 1972, and on 17.12.2017, 45 years later, the ‘loyal member’ as the airmen describe, received a final salute.
