If not, this post is for you!💪👍👌 . 💥HOW TO DO MAINTENANCE💥 - 🍳I often get asked about maintenance. What happens after you reach your fat loss goal and how do you know where your maintenance calories should be? It’s actually a great question, and I was recently asked to make a post about it. Here’s my take: - 🌮First of all, what exactly is maintenance? Maintenance is where you are consuming the amount of calories your body needs to maintain your weight. In a deficit you will lose weight, in a surplus you will gain weight and in maintenance, you will maintain your weight - 🦄I wish I could tell you that there was an exact number that would equate to your maintenance calorie number - that would be be way simple, and pretty much this post would be over 😉 I think we can recommend good starting points to find our maintenance, but the number could vary depending on the individual. - 🐥Finding your maintenance can take some time, just like finding your calorie deficit, or surplus. It’s trial and error and takes some patience - 🐙After you have reached your weight loss goals, you can start to find your maintenance by adding 5% to your calories. To some, 5% may not sound like a lot at all. I kind of look at it this way: Many people who have lost weight may have been struggling for a long time - a really long time, and transitioning into a maintenance phase can be scary. It can be mental mind fuck, so taking it slow and conservatively is often the best course of action. - 🦖Closely monitor your progress for at least two weeks. Are you still losing? Increase by another 5%. If the scale starts going up, don’t panic, just dial it back just a little. You may not have to tweak too much at all. - 🐟So once you reach your goal, add calories in gradually, monitor, and make the necessary adjustments, and voila! - 🐌Could you just test out your bodyweight x a particular number and go from there? And if not, well now you know. - But something deep inside you whispers: “listen to those scammy marketers, maybe it might work”. - NO. STOP IT. IT DOESN’T. PERIOD. - Create a lifestyle around your fitness goals that you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy it or you can’t eat foods you like. What’s the point? - And yes, sometimes you will need to suck it up. Uno de los mitos de las dietas es que no debes comer arepa si estas intentando bajar de peso. Está demostrado que la arepa es menos perjudicial para tu dieta que el pan. Todo depende de con qué la acompañes y en que momento del día te la comas. Yo que soy venezolana, simplemente no puedo dejar de comer arepa; lo que hago es comerla solo en la mañana, asada, sin mantequilla y acompañada de proteínas (Nunca frituras), la porcion tambien es importante, debe ser del tamaño de tu puño, no del tamaño del budare 😀 Esta de hoy la rellené con Pechuga de Pavo y un poquito de aguacate, pero le puedes poner carne, pollo, atún, etc. Siempre te va a saber rica porque su sabor depende de con que la rellenes. The question's challenging to answer because in the end, calorie balance decides weight loss or weight gain. And it decides the majority of fat loss/gain too.⠀ ➖⠀ So if you’re gaining weight or losing weight, it really has nothing to do with the carbs themselves. It’s total calories in/out. “Calories in” being the biggest one you have control of (1 gram of carbs is 4 calories by the way).⠀ ➖⠀ People who eat too much usually have some of the same issues. You don’t see too many people overeating bananas, berries and sweet potatoes. But you do see people mindlessly consume 1000 calories of chips over the time it takes them to drink 2-3 glasses of wine or beer.⠀ ➖⠀ So the problem is not really eating too many carbs, it's really eating too many calories. 💥 Are meal plans pointless? 💥. . 💪🏻 Now this quote is a little tongue in cheek, but the subject is an interesting one and worth debating. One of the standard products you can by from online coaches is a meal plan. Often just a one day meal plan with macros calculated and calorie targets set. You get an example day of meals for you to follow. . ⏰ I'll be the first to admit that I used to sell one day meal plans when I first started out. But my thinking on them has changed. Let me explain... . 🏋️‍♀️A one day meal plan helps you understand your macros and helps you understand how to structure your meals. But unless you intend to eat the same thing for the rest of your life, then the plan has a shelf-life. So what do you do at the point? Buy another? And when you get bored of that one do you buy another? . 🐵 In my mind, the biggest value comes from learning about good nutrition and learning how to manage your diet for the long term. And that won't happen from a one-off meal plan. . 🍰 So with my coaching clients my focus is on passing on the knowledge as quickly as possible. That might sound counter-intuitive because I'm effectively teaching people to live without me. But to me that's providing the most value to you, which is THE most important thing! . 🦄 I still use meal plans at the start of working with clients to help with that initial understanding, but I create 4-5.
