So yesterday I competed in my 2nd powerlifting competition. This was the same competition that I did last year where I ended up taking 2nd place. This year 1st 💪🏾 . Here are my deadlifts which were feeling insanely strong. I had so much left in the tank even on my 3rd lift! . This is 501.5lbs (3rd clip), 523.6lbs(2nd clip) and 556.7lbs (1st clip) 600 is right around the corner (227.5kg, 237.5kg, 252.5kg) . It’s so true that we should embrace failure and learn from it as it shows us our weaknesses and what we need to fix the next time around. The other side of things might not come right away. In this case it took 1 whole year ! If you keep learning and moving forward though nothing is impossible . Last year I did my own “programming” and tried to do everything on my own having never done a powerlifting competition before or even any kind of structured squat, deadlift, or bench program. I maxed out on all my lifts a week before competition and it was just straight ugly! . This year I came in prepared. @cdubpower helped me with some monster programming & coaching and it made all the difference. All i had to do was stick to the plan and execute 💪🏾 . I still made a rookie mistake which was only enrolling in one division simply because i didn’t know i could be in both. I had to watch this guy get my other medal and be announced as first place in the open division even though I out-lifted him and everybody else by a pretty good margin. I was pretty salty about that but oh well :p . Overall it was an amazing experience and I’m ready to train even harder now! Right back to the grind 💪🏾💪🏾 this is only the beginning . Huge huge thanks to everybody that sent positivity and support before and after the meet. It means more than you know !!

So I have little chicken legs from long distance running these last 7 years, but it feels like my limiting factor for lifting at the moment is stability. Any recommendations on ways of improving my stability with heavier weights? I'm also slowly letting my back re-strengthen after my minor injury, so my deadlifts are still light in weight and volume, and I'm performing high-bar squats to focus on my quads.

Whelp... Day 2 went down the complete opposite of planned. Just not enough in the tank to do what I thought. I like eating a bowl of oatmeal with protein powder and coconut oil. 40g protein. 30g carbs. 10g fat. - Before bed, carbs are your friend. They'll help you transform from an angry Wookie to a peaceful Ewok, allowing you to feel relaxed before bed, and load your muscles with glycogen for training the next day.
