Yesterday, I decided to deadlift without a belt for everything except my deficit sets. Everything felt good, but I unfortunately failed on 435. Here, though, is my 3rd set of 3 of 1 rep at 365, 2 reps at 355, and 3 reps at 335. Again, I’m just trying to get more and more volume in with higher weights. Legs went well yesterday! Not the heaviest workout, but very voluminous! First clip shows a variation of squats which put a huge emphasis on my quads, but unfortunately stressed my knees too much, so I️ couldn’t do as many reps for this final set as I️ would have liked. The second clip shows straight-legged barbell deadlifts, which puts a lot of emphasis on your butt and hamstrings. I️ supersetted these two to hit the majority of my legs! One of the most frustrating things for me is the feeling of a lack of motivation. These past few days have been rough in the gym, simply because i’ve had little motivation to get better. Instead, i’ve went just to say I️ went. I️ went through the motions for the most part. Thinking about it, and knowing i’m in a slump right now is so hard for me, but that’s a part of lifting. Knowing when you’re in a slump is key to knowing when to back off and recover. Due to this, I’m taking a deload week in hopes my body responds positively and I️ can look forward to lifting and getting stronger. As for this picture, well my legs are growing in size, (picture was from today), and that helped me mentally push through this leg workout. Some videos from today will be posted tomorrow!

For deadlifting today, I️ went with a volume emphasis for my conventional sets, hitting 315 lbs. for sets of 10, 8, 8, and then 7. (I️ aimed for 10 each time, unfortunately I️ didn’t get that). But shown here, are a couple of sets of my deficit sets. This was on a 6 inch deficit block, and I’m happy with how these moved. I️ did 5 sets of 3 at 315 lbs. (shown in the first clip) and then 3 sets of 1 at 365 lbs. (shown in the second clip). So yesterday was an hour long squat session, and hit some new numbers during it! I️ managed to do 275 for 3 sets of 10 reps! (the set before that I️ did 225 for 20) I️ felt super good about my numbers so I️ decided to do 10 sets of 10 of 225 after those three top sets. Yes, I’m crazy. Shown here, however, is my “finisher” since I️ knew I️ would have to finish up my legs today. It’s a simple slowed eccentric movement, paired with a low seated pause, for 3 sets of 6. I️ did these at 225 pounds and it absolutely obliterated my legs. Today, I️ hope to get some more videos of different leg exercises you guys can start incorporating into your routine! (also, I️’m sorry for the lack of posts lately. My workouts have been going well, but they’re just not anything worth putting on here for you guys to see. Thanks to a good friend (@mikeymaybeme ) I realized my last few leg days have started out with a less than optimal squat session. Well yesterday, I changed that. I attempted a new body weight PR of 335 (unfortunately failed) but did get 295 for 2 solid sets of 4. Shown here, though, is my third and final set of burnouts at 275. My brother @richieliberio was kind enough to spot me so I could push out as many reps as I could. The second clip is a nice little leg tip I picked up from some other lifters I see on Instagram, and honestly, the higher reps for this exercise absolutely burn! I ended up doing 6 total sets of these as well! If you regularly see my posts, you know that my last leg day (only two days ago) was a shit-show, especially during my squat session. I couldn’t get it out of my mind, so today I decided to have another leg day as a “retry” 😂 I went in feeling just mediocre, but as I warmed up I felt great! And so I did my infamous 10 sets of 10 reps at 225 pounds of squats! Well actually, I did 101 reps because I miscounted during this clip of my last set and accidentally did 11, oh well. Another leg day, another dollar. I hit squats pretty hard today and managed to get 5 solid sets of 2 at 295 pounds which I can’t complain about. I managed to get volume and weight in today, but it tired me out so bad that I had to push myself to finish the workout. But hey! that’s what makes you better and stronger! Anyways, here’s the last set of a variation of squats I like to do to finish out squats entirely. I get a 45lb. plate and put my heels on it in a close stance. Then from there, it’s your normal “ass to the grass” routine! You can really feel it in your hamstrings and believe it or not lower quads, which I really enjoy. The burn you feel is crazy especially when you do it after regular squats! A lot of people have asked me since my weight loss what I did to lose it. They ask me what my workout regiment was, what my diet consisted of, basically everything and anything they could think of that might play a roll in losing weight and excess fat. Of course Intold them what helped me lose the unwanted weight, but the biggest thing I told everyone was that there is no secret formula. Your body is unique, and needs a unique plan to lose weight properly. With this being said, I also made sure to tell them how important it is to know that losing weight and excess fat is NOT an overnight solution. It takes months, more likely than not years, in order to surpass your goal. That is why I love this analogy. You don't notice every single pound lost, it just isn't possible. But come the end, you will be able to see the true difference. Yesterday's leg day definitely could've been better, but you do what you can despite it. I hit 225 lb squats for what I think was 8 sets of AMRAP (as many reps as possible) just trying to get volume work in. Here, however, is a hidden gem for building bigger and stronger calves! Instead of only keeping your toes forward, do three different variations all at once! Start with your toes out, heels in. Then switch to your normal forward stance. And then finish off with your toes in, and heels out! The lactic acid will build up almost immediately, but keep pushing through! Do 4-5 sets of this, (one set being all three variations) combined with other calf exercises and you'll see them puppies grow! It's been a loonnggg week. Every workout this week has been a grind. My dues have been getting paid less than often. But, today was an awesome workout! Shoulders felt solid today and hopefully this video shows it! I supersetted these with sitting strict-form lateral raises, followed by bent over tea felt dumbbell flies. The entire workout had a superset of either 2 or 3 exercises, which really got to me by the end because of the lactic acid! Sorry for the lack of posts as of late, I've been super busy. This weekend, I came back home (Philadelphia) for the Made in America music festival! Despite having that consume most of my time, I still managed to get to my old gym yesterday morning, as well as get in a couple of runs! Luckily, I managed to stay relatively active, even though I couldn't lift as much as I would have liked.
