I’m taking my unfinished apple-core quilt out for it’s annual airing, inspired this time by the purchase of a #curvemaster presser foot and a strong desire to do a NY Beauty quilt someday. I recommend going to the website, studying their short tutorial and FAQs, and then practicing for awhile. Eventually, and with a little patience, this #specialtyfoot does work as easily as it appears to at the quilt shows! #onlinetutorialsrock#applecorequilt#finishin2018#curvedpiecing
Just wrapped up my advanced quilting coarse with some of the best folks around! We spent 6 weeks exploring chenille, sashiko, & curved piecing. Feeling so bitter sweet that this class came to an end. 😭✨💕 @butcherssewshop
I was feeling a little creative tonight and wanted to sew but not cut anything new out so I pulled out this work in progress!
I started on this quilt last April and was so excited to tackle curved piecing for the first time! It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and I had all of the quilt sewn into sections pretty quickly. Then for some reason I laid it down and never finished it.
So tonight I pulled it out and sewed the sections together, now all that's left are the borders! I'm hoping to finish the quilt and donate it to a benefit auction next month.
Today on the blog: Paper Round Quilt, my contribution to the #whatshadeareyou blog hop by @rjrfabrics. The adventure has just started for this piece. There is an exhibition, a magazine appearance, workshops and a pattern scheduled in. If you don't want to risk missing any of these exciting dates you can sign up to my mailing list....as you're already on my website for the blog. Just saying.😉 Thank you RJR Fabrics for the chance to do this, thanks you @leejamesthompson for the 📷and @joe_bennison for quilting this.
One more old WIP that I’m finishing this month. I have 27 blocks done but I think I’ll just use 25, make the quilt 5x5 and call it good! The background print is one of my all time favorites and I’ve used it on many, many projects. It’s Color Weave from @pbtextiles and I believe this color is silver - but the gray is also great as a background.
Got to work last week on these double drunkards path blocks from a December workshop as well as make good progress on some very old projects 👏 Happy with the way this is heading, and getting more used to curved piecing (sorry @pappersaxsten - pins are involved 🙂) Need to find a way to blend in the two shades of purple in the second row - not enough of the lighter shade in my stash and could not find exact match - only the darker shade will be in the third row. Thinking also about adding strips of the blue print and the circles print between the rows to space them 🤔 Decisions, decisions........ any suggestions?
That day when you think 'what about an inset teardrop shape?' Looks pretty decent for a "what if" #curvedpiecing
Almost done with this quilt top from Christmas!! Ended up with some extra blocks so I will be adding one more row plus a border! I’m really happy with how it is looking! Swipe for more photos. Pattern by Wendy Sheppard. #christmasquilt#holidayquilt#quilting#curvedpiecing
