Breaking my silence today.. 18 school shootings this year so far!! Let that sink in..
As I sit here and watch yet another school shooting on the news where several innocent young children lost their lives, I look at my own children and my heart drops to my stomach every time. There will be beautiful young girls and boys that will not be coming home tonight. There will be parents who won’t see their children’s faces as they embrace them with a sigh of relief that their child is safe. There will be brothers and sisters that will no longer have that sibling to pick on. As the weeks pass there will be funerals to plan and more than that, there will be families who will have to learn to live without that loved one. Families who will have to get used to the new normal. The new normal of a life without that family member. So what’s the answer? How do we fix this problem? How do we keep our children safe? How do we know that when we kiss our kids goodbye in the morning, we can rest assure that we will kiss them goodnight also? Some will argue that we need better gun control, some will say it’s the parents fault and others will believe the system failed the shooter. At this point, I have no clue who’s side to be on or if there is a solution but what I do know is we have to come together before anymore lives are senselessly lost to such tragic events. In the mean time I will continue to cherish every second with my babies and not take a single moment for granted.
// Love, love, love // Happy Valentine’s Day 💗 Pictured here is the heart shaped cookie 🍪 ‘baked’ by @marley_and_us at nursery and a tulip🌷 from the bunch of tulips 💐 Liam got me a few days ago (so as not to get done by more costly flowers 🤣) This evening is all about tea and chocolate 🍫 for two while Marley sleeps 💤 #thisisparenthood
Twenty-one years ago I was a stay-at-home babysitting to help our rapidly-growing family make ends meet. This beautiful young lady wasn’t even on the planet yet but her big sister was, and every week that sweet big sister came to my house and had bread with melted cheese for breakfast (her favorite little morning dish when she was four years old) and played with Todd until they left for preschool. I’m not sure where the years have gone, but I was honored to stand behind the lens and snap senior photos of Makenzie and see the same sweet smile I always saw when Morgan was in our home. Time truly does fly by and so do the roles we play in people’s lives. If I could go back and do anything over it would be this......I would spend less time wondering what was coming next and simply embrace each moment for the gift that it is......because those days of Morgan, Todd, Abby, and Nick running through the house playing hide-and-seek and dancing to silly songs are days I wouldn’t trade for any amount of money. #LifeIsShort#CherishEverySecond#WeDontKnowAboutTomorrow#OnlyGodDoes#Thankful
Here’s some serious candy making skills!! 🐉 Countdown to Chinese New Year 🐉 - 8 more days! My kids witness the art of painting with caramelized sugar. Sadly, this skill is slowly fading from the culture. Glad I can share this with you before it becomes extinct!
