The other day while grocery shopping in WalMart, I ran across these Beet Chips.⠀ -⠀ Because I like to try new foods, I picked them up. And, to my surprise, they were quite tasty.⠀ -⠀ But they did kind of taste “greasy” to me so then I got curious as to how they compare to regular potato chips.⠀ -⠀ And if I’m curious, then you might be too. ⠀ -⠀ There is a little more difference than I thought there would be, leading me to a more educated, nutritional choice.⠀ -⠀ Feel free to come to your own conclusion here as this is just mine.⠀ -⠀ In terms of overall calorie control, in my opinion, both are quite similar. However, due to less fat and sodium, the beet chips appeal to me more. Beets also have more nutritional appeal due to their color and what I know about them (more on that later.)⠀ -⠀ YET, I still struggled to eat just one serving, like I do with regular potato chips, so this leads me to believe they are a trigger food for me to overeat, thus not helping me control my weight. ⠀ -⠀ Do you take the time to compare the “healthier” alternative to regular option? Might be well worth your time. ⠀

This is what it's about. How well has dramatically changing your lifestyle and diet in the past worked for you? It's not about deprivation or banning food groups or making yourself utterly miserable. Small changes to achieve long term sustainable results. I was working with my kids the other day in our little home gym. - I was trying to explain to them to tilt their pelvis to protect their low back and they were not understanding. They just looked at me with this puzzled look and said “what?” - After a couple attempts at showing and cueing them, they were still a little baffled. - THEN, I told them to think of it like twerking but holding the movement. - Ding, ding, ding. Lightbulb moment. - They got it! - Just to clarify why you should do this type of movement...it protects your low back and spine from injury. - I naturally have a tilted pelvis (my seamstress calls it a “swayback”), yet I have exaggerated it in this video. My pelvis tilts forward as if my lady bits could just spill out the front. This also causes my lower ribs to flare out. - To promote good posture and healthy movement FOR THE LONG RUN, you want to correct this form by posteriorly tilting your pelvis (lift your pelvis to meet your belly button OR tuck your butt underneath you OR hold part of your twerk) and bringing your ribs down (a deep sigh can help with this). - Practice this posture when you are just standing around. It will feel strange at first, but hopefully, you will feel relief in your low back (that is if you naturally live in that extended position.) - As you can see, once in this position, my spine is in a neutral position and my vertebrae are stacked nicely on top of each other. - Also, notice my tummy seems a little tucked and my glutes are a little perkier. Who wouldn’t want that? - Once you master the movement standing, start to play with tilting your pelvis and bringing your ribs down in a seated position, and then any other position (in the bottom of a squat, or the top of a deadlift, or when down on all fours.) - You should notice your core start to get stronger.

We can’t change WHAT we see but we can change HOW we see it. Is it failure or learning? Enemy or greatest teacher? Adversity or growth opportunity?
