Finally getting around to trying some of the recent 2017 release of the @foundersbrewing CBS I’ve been sitting on. So really wanted to take my time with this one to take it in and see how the flavors took hold as it warmed which definitely changed the profile and opened it up as it went on. •
It pours a pitch black, thick and oily with a 1 finger dark brown head that dissipates yet laces the glass the way down. Smell is very similar to its cousin KBS, full of dark roast coffee, sweet chocolate and roasted malts along with a bit of bourbon. Taste is very similar, with the bourbon providing a nice up front flavor yet not overpowering it, coffee, toffee, oak, vanilla, and the maple which is more subtle than I expected. The sweet chocolate really takes the stage coming out more and more as it warms, yet it never takes over yet while being well pronounced complements the other flavors very well. •
I’ll admit I’m kind of iffy sometimes when it comes to beer with maple, as many can come out a bit too much on the sweet side for my liking. I didn’t want to judge this on first sip rather take my time to enjoy it and I’m glad I did as it got better and better as it went on. It’s a fantastic beer, very complex while not being overly sweet and very well balanced. Plus it still adds a lovely fun punch of 11.7% ABV that is very well hidden. I can definitely understand the hype behind it, in my opinion it is well deserved. Well done! 4.5/5⭐️

Wow, I gotta say I am beyond impressed with this B-Bomb! I know it says it’s with coffee & Cinnamon. But I have to say, this ale aged in bourbon barrels with this combo actually gives off a coconut aftertaste. Nose is definitely light coffee and cinnamon. I’m excited that I created two new solid recipes today! I’m calling these “CBD PB Bars”. I wanted to experiment with making quick nut butter chocolate bars (since Buckeyes can take awhile to roll into individual balls and then dip 😩), so I got out Mike’s favorite 365 brand organic creamy peanut butter...the one with the brown lid, because God knows he doesn’t like the ones with the red, blue, or green lids 🙄...mixed it with some bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup and coconut flour. And then I thought, why not add CBD to the mix to raise the vibes of this dessert? 😉 So I mixed some organic CBD oil into the bottom layer. Then for the top layer, I heated up Enjoy Life chocolate chips on the cooktop with more peanut butter and a tiny bit of coconut oil. Poured the melted chocolate on top of the nut butter layer and froze for 1 hour. So yummy! I had to add the picture of Mike spreading even more (brown lid) peanut butter on top of these bars, because he puts it on everything 😜
It’s probably been a year since I cracked a Kentucky Breakfast Stout and it’s even better than I remember - or maybe it’s aged well. This has to be nearly as good as the CBS and much better dollar for dollar. Aged for 18 months in Breckenridge Bourboun Barrels. Drank this fill the vastness of my stomach. I didn't drink it too vast though, as I didn't have much to eat for breakvast.
Snowday activities: made a Brown Sugar Bourbon Barrel Aged Vanilla simple Syrup (with orange zest). I’m gonna use it in the cold brew I’m making from the Whiskey Barrel Aged Sulawesi. 🙌🏻☕️🥃
Trivia is over, but that doesn't mean the night is. I've always loved regular @newhollandbrew#DragonsMilk as a solid go-to on the shelf barrel aged stout. Seeing this Salted Caramel reserve hit the shelves got me excited, and I gotta say, it's everything I could've hoped for.
