Decided it was time to retire pretty much all my brushes. Utterly amazing what I was using. Got this super fun poison apple mug from my fellow disney obsessed bestie @alissecourter so both my brushes and their container got a major upgrade today! #workspace#newbrushes#upgrade
Late start today. We went to look at a property that ended up being way more work and $ than anticipated. So much easier to get lost in this basket weave than to deal with big life decisions. #onmyboard#dailypainting#cornucopia
Good morning (here in America) here is the rest of the big Boston illustrated map I did a short time ago. This was the last project I’ve finished since shutting down shop to finish up my thesis for a couple of weeks and then I will start being a tax paying working citizen again.
This poster was difficult for me because there was no real clear hierarchy of shapes or anything for that matter compositionally. I had to sort of surrender to the idea that it’s sort of a where’s Waldo vibe. Once I realized that it was fun just drilling into the details of all of these things. I actually started by creating everhthjng separate (after having a rough comp) and then massaging them all together. Illustrator was super helpful for that, being able to move and scale things so they all locked in.
I wanted a sort of rustic Boston commonwealth bricky feeling to it, simplifying my color palette was imperative. You should see how this piece started. It was like skittles colors. I’ll share later lol. Anyway I also did some lettering which is always out of my comfort zone. And that’s a great place to me.
