This past weekend, I took on a fairly daunting DIY project: fake built-in bookcases!
Ever since we moved in, I’ve never been completely happy with the office space. It’s felt incomplete and empty, with no real statement piece to tie everything together. I needed something to showcase art, books, decor and our record collection, and our existing setup just wasn’t cutting it.
As we live in an apartment, we aren’t allowed to make any permanent updates to our space. And the beauty here is that this is simply a floating structure, secured to the wall by reinforced bracing. Entirely removable, so I can totally get that deposit back!
Of course, being the sort of person that I am, I wired in 6 spots of integrated lighting, and left points for electrical outlets (and since this beast took up an entire wall, there is not a chance in hell that I am giving up two outlets). Best part? The entire build cost just under $400, between lumber, lighting, paint and pain!
While I still need to apply the final few coats of paint, I really couldn’t wait to share this (not so little work) in progress!
#FinishedReading I love a ‘friends to lovers’ novel and when I picked up Brooklynaire by @sarina.bowen I fell head over heels for the story that was within. This story truly grabbed my attention and kept me reading through the night and wanting to sneak in reading breaks any chance I could get. This is a sexy standalone novel that is refreshingly sensual with a nerdy billionaire you will fall fall but at the same time the road is full of twists and turns along the way that keep you on your toes. If you are a lover of hockey, friends to lovers novels and would love a nerdy billionaire to heat up the screen of your kindle I highly recommend reading Brooklynaire. ❤ #Brookynaire#sarinabowen
Today on the blog I shared that I'm thinking (as in dreaming, wishful thinking) about a new bookshelf (or bookcase, whichever term you choose to use) for our living room wall, which is the only wall in the living room. And it's huge, as in 12 1/2 feet long and 20 feet high. I've posted about the repurposed thrift shop bookcase from 2 years ago and then I repainted it last fall and now I want a totally different look and a BIgger bookcase. I love this one from Kate @censtationalstyle. I'm partial to Kate. She was my mentor at Haven last year. This is the perfect bookcase to me: a great ratio of books to decorative pieces to art. Different shapes that all work together. And that she painted the back of the wall blue. That takes guts, my friend. And guess what? It's an Ikea~inspired piece. Gotta love that. Check out my inspo post and let me know what you think about my vision pieces. Direct link in profile. ⬆️ 📕🏡 📘
