. k o s e l i g โ€” pronounced kush-lee . . . I am in love with the way our ancient roots are woven into and shape our present lives ๐ŸŒฌ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ” . Through the elements of nature and the landscape around us, through the lives of our ancestors, through song and poetry, through stories that are handed down with the art of storytelling through words ...oral traditions that continue to weave a tapestry for us of the unknown with the familiarness of home. . . I also have a love affair with language and with words and their etymology. In English we are often searching for "le mot juste"...the perfect word or phrase to communicate a concept or idea. English doesn't lend itself as naturally to that as other languages do. I love how other languages can communicate the essence and experience of concepts or entire ways of living with just one word. . . I have always known about my ancestors who came from Wales England and surrounding areas and many times having dreams about the english country side that were so real and so familiar. Then one day I woke up a few years ago after dreaming of being inside a fjiord type cave in the side of a mountain top in Norway watching boats sail by. It was so real I was saddened with the feeling of familiar longing for the place when I woke up and then determined to know why I was so obsessed with Lofoten and other Norwegian gems. Feeling as if I had been a part of that culture. . . My dads middle name is Erekson and also his mom's maiden name. I was always so curious and recently asked him about Norway. He came back downstairs with a family ancestry book and showed me our family line that weaves back to Norway. This made me cry. It was a knowing I have felt for sometime and recently the Norwegian grandmothers have come to sing and weave songs of heart and hearth and home in several of my Sound Weaving sessions ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐ŸŒฌ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿป๐ŸŽถโ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’™ . This leads me back to k o s e l i g ... The Norwegian concept described below by writer Jenna Wortham... see notes below for more ... . Now I know why I always want to feel koselig wherever I go ....koselig even breathing up through my toes ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ . Thank you thank you thank you Norwegian grandmothers ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ”โ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ’™ ๐Ÿ“ท: @tesartsa
