On Friday February 16th, I traveled to Iowa City for the Hawkeye Honors Music Festival on the campus of the University of Iowa. I ended up being the only bass clarinetist accepted from West High, Sioux City, IA, and the region of Northwest Iowa for the festival. I was more than happy to represent West High School in a positive way. There were 3 bass clarinetists including myself in this festival. The Hawkeye Honor Band rehearsed for about 5 hours over the duration of the weekend and performed the concert on Sunday, February 18th. The Voxman Music Building and the Hancher Auditorium were amazing to see and be inside of. The concert was amazing! I was nearly brought to tears when the band, choir, and orchestra combined together and played America the Beautiful. It was one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever played. I had a great time in Iowa City! The trip was worth it, even though I got lost and left behind a few times when exploring the city and campus. As I always say, "It has been an honor performing with you all". It's over now, but the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you everyone!
“Look at him... just wait patiently, he gon f*** up he a New Orleans nigga..” (The positive)
“Maybe I will, maybe I won’t.. the REAL is in a nigga! Money can’t change that, fame can’t change that! I done shit to people in the streets I can’t take back. Now every day of my life I keep a gun and I hate that! But this ‘True hustler’s Life’ , you get caught without it you gon regret that. So fuck it... .
