You will learn to lower your expectations about what you can accomplish in a day.
Some days, it will be all you can do to keep baby safe, warm and fed.
And that will be enough. 💕 #newmom#newparents#parenting#momlife

5/6. Growing up with parents who were alcoholics, trips to the package store were frequent. I of course, being so little, had no idea what was going on or why they even brought me along but as I got older I began to understand everything and it didn't really start affecting me until I was 13. Sometimes I look back to this time period and think of how selfish it was of them. Its a disease I know they couldn't help but to lose both of them over alcohol still seems like a selfish move to me. I love my parents dearly and I don't blame them for anything they did and looking back at all of these pictures from my first birthday to when I was 9 years old, I saw two parents who really loved their daughter. #memories#throwback#childhood#photography#polaroid#mystory#home#myhome#retro#memorylane#90s#kids#newbedford#parents#alchohol
Waiting for water to boil like...🤨😂
PARENTS, please please please teach your kids basic cooking skills!! We’ve become a society so reliant on convenience and processed foods that we’re neglecting teaching basic life skills to our future generations. Cooking is not a male or female thing; it is a skill necessary FOR LIFE. And teaching them how to make Easy Mac in the microwave is not what I mean. 😆
We are the only species that use fire to cook food. 🔥🔥🔥Think about that for a second. Why are we neglecting one of the things that makes us HUMAN?? Decades ago, it was normal for a household to spend up to an hour a day preparing meals. Now the average is 10 to 15 minutes a day. Coincidence that our obesity epidemic has increased since then? 🤔
No matter what diet you follow, you need to eat. Hitting the grocery store and cooking meals at home is the most cost-effective way to do it. Seriously. So not only is cooking most of our meals at home better for our health, it also frees up some funds to do other cool life things AND gives us more teachable moments with our kids.
My kids have been helping more and more over the years and now can actually be quite helpful! They can use knives with supervision (I know it’s scary), they can cook eggs, measure stuff, watch pots, stir things up and do other odd jobs. My daughter makes eggs, smoothies, salads and helps me chop veggies. My son loves stirring and being my seasonings guy. 🍅🥦🥒🧀🥔🌽🥩🥓🍳🥗🥘🍲🍛
Get them involved and BE PATIENT. 😜❤️
