Dr. Olga Lentz, one of #StPaul's first female dentists. Originally from New York, Lentz received her dental degree in Philadelphia in the early 1900s because the New York College of Dentistry did not yet accept women. She returned to NY for a while but eventually moved westward to #SaintPaul and established her practice.
An article printed in the #MinneapolisTribune on August 11, 1889 said: “Girl Dentist is ‘pretty and popular and has an income of $5,000 a year.’” The article continued, “A dentist is no longer a king of terrors. She is a queen of beauty, says the #NewYorkMorningJournal. How pleasant to see a sweet, delicate, girlish face bent over yours as you lean back in the fatal chair of torture! How delightful to gaze up into tender blue or black eyes, and feel that soft tendrils of hair are sweeping your brow like a summer zephyr!”
Dr. Lentz didn’t escape #sexism or #discrimination but she did help prove that women are as competent as men. Her example was very beneficial to the #Suffrage movement in #Minnesota.

#SkiJump in the #BattleCreek neighborhood of #SaintPaul around 1940. The 60-meter hill at Battle Creek was built in 1939 for the #StPaulWinterCarnival. The national ski jumping championships of 1939 were also held there. The hill at Battle Creek was used until the 1970s.

The Mavs are WCHA champions, and we made it onto the big screen at the hockey game, so you could say our weekend is off to a good start! 😄 #MSUvsBSU#maverickshockey
My art has taken me on a wild ride these last few months. I’ve gone from a closet creative to an internationally collected artist. But do you want to know the truth? I’m struggling to find balance. As a member of this creative community I watch other artists, more talented artists, achieve the goals I have set for myself. It feels easy to give up. This hustle is hard, and I plan on digging in for the long haul. •
Even though our doors will happily be open at the store their usual hours- there is a bonus place you can see us this weekend! We will be at the Faribault High School on Saturday from 8-6 and Sunday from 7-2 for the basketball tournament! Come say hi, look around and spread the word!
“Welcome to Minne-SNOW-ta!” - We sure have gotten a lot of snow in the past week. Close to two feet I think. And it sounds like we're in for more of it this weekend, with another foot possible by Sunday. It's about time... this is what winter is supposed to be like!
