Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took.... well actually I took the one more traveled by, and it may have made a difference. I'm not sure, but maybe. I just hope Robert Frost is ok with it.
Started hunting this buck when I discovered him on my trail cam October 3rd. I immediately noticed he was the same buck I was hunting in 2014 and first buck I ever drew back on. The first pic shows the years side by side. Fortunately I made the mistake of hitting my release & sending my arrow while drawing back & also punching myself in the face. This allowed me to harvest a bigger buck that year. Buck took off & came back two weeks later on camera; now named Punchout. Punchout's whereabouts were unknown for the next two years. Had tons of trail cam pics this year & two encounters. First on Oct 28th at 17 yards with no ethical shot opportunity as he walked straight in & then spooked off after a couple mins. The second about 80 yards out Nov 11th. Attempting grunting him in with no luck. The life of a bow hunter. The only worry was the upcoming rifle season starting the 15th & two small portions of private property nearby. I drove by these two cabins on the 15th & 16th to see if he was hanging & noticed he was on the 16th. I made contact with the hunting party & shooter advising of my story/history with him. They loved hearing about it as they never saw this buck until he walked in front of the shooter presenting a 60 yard shot with a rifle. Congratulations to Don & his grandson Taylor that was hunting with him on this giant 6 point & thank you for allowing my friends & sons to come see him & put a close to this chapter. #bowhunter#northernmichigan#whi#whitetail#bowhuntordie #whitetail #whitetailhunting#hushlife#hoytbowhunting#publiclandhunter#publiclandhunting#publiclandowner#hnt2eat
