When was the last time you had a health check? . We understand that there could be many reasons you may not have gone to the doctor's recently; you may not have had time to go, you may have a "fear of going", or you may not feel like you need to go. . Of course if you feel fine then that's great and there should be no reason to visit the doctor like you own a season ticket, but we really do recommend you have a check up at least once per year. . What should you be checking? . - Blood Pressure - Full Blood Count particularly looking at; --> Glucose and HbA1c (90 day average) --> Cholesterol and Triglycerides --> Liver and Kidney function - Height and Weight -Waist and Hip Circumference and Hip:Waist Ratio . Of course this is just basic stuff and a lot of this you can do at home... but let's face it, would you? . Now what happens if you don't want to go to the doctor and you're not sure what you should do on your own? Book an appointment with a qualified health professional. . We can do all of the above tests (except Blood Test) at Precision Wellbeing, but we can arrange for you to have tests done if you want them. . Don't be a fool and ignore your health. You only have one body so look after it. . #healthylifestyle #nutrition #nutritionist #foodasmedicine #healthyliving #healthblog #wholefoods #nourish #aut#autoimmunease #autoimmune #adrenalfatigue #balancedlife #hearthealth #heartdisease #healthcheck #functionalmedicine #lifestylemedicine #precisionwellbeing #northfinchley #finchley #london

Green Papaya💚 ——————————— ✨Did you know that the green papaya is actually the same fruit as the orange papaya? It is just picked at an earlier stage in development! When it comes to taste, texture and appearance, the green papaya is definitely different compared to the regular orange papaya we all know so well. The white inside of the green papaya is the unripened flesh! It is crisp and has little flavor to it! Don't turn away from it though! Green papaya has much to offer!✨ —————————————————————— Health Benefits- ✔️Heal Skin Conditions- when applied topically the papaya can combat against acne, pimples, and other skin infections. It does this by opening the pores of your skin and dissolving the dead skin cells! It also have the ability to treat wounds! ✔️Menstrual Pain- the flesh of the papaya can reduce menstrual cramps as well as induce a period altogether! For those who experience irregular periods, green papaya can help you! ✔️Digestion- the seeds and flesh of the papaya have anti-amoebic and anti-parasitic components that can regulate bowels movements! It can also ease indigestion, constipation, acid reflux, heart burn, IBS, and gastric problems! ✔️Heart Diseases- green papayas have the ability to maintain a proper blood pressure. It regulates the effects that harmful sodium has on our bodies. ✔️Weight Management- there are only 39 calories per 100 grams of papaya! They also contain amazing vitamins and nutrients such as Vitamins C, A and E, and folate! The antioxidants in papayas burn down calories and eliminate extra fat deposits! . . . _______

Repost from @ugly_by_nature using @RepostRegramApp - A growing body of research data suggests that consuming foods rich in polyphenols from #gra#grapes—including red wine—helps reduce the risk of #heartdisease, according to a review article in Nutrition Research. "Consumption of grape and grape extracts and/or grape products such as red wine may be beneficial in preventing the development of chronic degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular disease," write Wayne R. Leifert, Ph.D., and Mahinda Y. Abeywardena, Ph.D., of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation in Adelaide, Australia. The authors review the accumulating evidence that #grape polyphenols work in many different ways to prevent cardiovascular and other "inflammatory-mediated" diseases. Polyphenols are natural antioxidants found in grapes and some other plant foods. Their types and actions vary, depending on where in the grape they are found. Grape seeds, grape skin, and grape juice contain several types of polyphenols, including resveratrol, phenolic acids, anthocyanins, and flavonoids. Through their #antioxidant effects, grape polyphenols help to slow or prevent cell damage caused by oxidation. #Polyphenols decrease oxidation of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol)—a key step in the development of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Grape polyphenols also have other protective effects on the heart and blood vessels, including actions to reduce blood clotting, abnormal heart rhythms, and blood vessel narrowing. It's not yet clear exactly how these benefits of polyphenols occur, although there is evidence of effects on cellular signaling and on the actions of certain genes. The wide range of health-promoting effects suggests that several different, possibly interrelated mechanisms may be involved. Swipe to keep watching ➡️➡️➡️ This was supposed to be for IG stories but it got too long. Lol. . Decided to share a lil bit of my heart because the reason I do what I do is to change the way people look at “fitness” or eating “healthy”! is waaaay more about your quality of life NOW & for years to come, than it being a trend and looking good. Aesthetics (looking good) is cool and all but being able to move pain free, not take any prescription meds, feeling great, full of energy and being able to run after your grandkids like if you were 30 years old when you’re 75 is even better!!! . Whatever you are investing in the bank of your health... you will get back. Invest in it!! It’s worth it! . so only because the medical tests say you’re “healthy” at the moment YOU know what you will be getting back, what you have put in. It’s only a matter of time #nutrition #health #movement #leukemia #cancer #heartdisease #fitness #insideout #fitspiredbynancy #itsalifestyle #instagood #educateyourself

February is Heart Month 💗 Last week the doctors and staff of Porter Regional Hospital saved my father's life. My family was faced with a harsh reality that heart disease is unfortunately part of our genetics and that we should educate ourselves about how to deal with the disease as well as steps to manage our own health. It's a stressful, scary and humbling experience to watch a loved one unexpectedly go through something so traumatic. I'm grateful that my dad is still alive and that he is doing much better now. #heartdisease #heartdiseaseawareness #heartmonth #love #family #porterregionalhospital #father #mydad #february #genetics #heredity

February is #HeartMonth. According to the CDC heart disease can happen at any age. High rates of obesity & high blood pressure in younger people are putting them at risk earlier. Did you know…½ of Americans have 1 of these #heartdisease factors - #highbloodpressure #highcholesterol #smoking. Take control of your #health by being active for at least 150 mins per week. Atrial Septal Defect #ASD 💔 #20weeks since I had my ASD closed in open heart surgery. • My "hole in the heart" was about 30mm in size. This let the (oxygen-rich) blod flow from the left atrium (LA) to the right atrium (RA) and mix with the oxygen-poor blod. Due to this, the right side of my heart was already significantly enlarged. Untreated my ASD would have result in pulmonary hypertension and heart failure. • ASDs are one of the most common Congenital Heart Defects. Many small ASDs may close on their own as the heart grows during childhood. Some remains open and can also grow in size. • ASDs can sometimes be closed through cardiac cathetrization but if the ASD is e.g. very large like mine, surgical closure is the only option. A small ASD usually do not need to be closed. #chdawareness #atrialseptaldefect #notmypic

Fear and its physiological response — stress — was created by ‘mother nature’ to protect our lives not for us to be constantly (chronically) stressed because of an unpleasant boss, someone’s criticism, breakups, size of our hips, and other not truly important things or people in our lives. The ability to recognise that something or someone stresses us excessively, then get to the bottom of what this ‘stress’ is really about (our personal story), and then deal with our problem by adding logic to deal with our feelings, can bring unbelievable results. In fact, you can achieve a state, where no matter what happens (except of course if your life is actually in danger), you will never get truly stressed. It is always our choice if we perceive an occurrence as simply unpleasant – or ‘the end of the world’- type of event. . . Link in bio ☝️☝️☝️ Follow @agnesanddavid #agnesanddavid

What is your favorite distraction while you’re in pain? What is one good thing you’ve learned from living with your condition? 5. Besides chronic illness/spoonie awareness, what is another movement/cause/activity that is also important to you? 7. Who has been your biggest supporter throughout your journey? 8.
