Bryan Singer Out, Dexter Fletcher In!
“Eddie the Eagle” and “Sunshine on Leith” director Dexter Fletcher has replaced Bryan Singer at the helm of the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” reports Deadline.
Production will resume next week with Fletcher directing the last two weeks of shooting and handling the film’s post-production. Rami Malek, Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, and Gwilym Lee star in the film which will cover a key period in the band’s history.
The move comes after Bryan Singer was fired from the production earlier this week after he didn’t show up on the set after the Thanksgiving break. At present, the film is still on track for a Christmas Day 2018 release.
Deadline has announced that Dexter Fletcher (Eddie the Eagle, Sunshine on Leith) will be replacing Bryan Singer as director for the upcoming Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody". The film, which has about two more weeks of principal photography remaining, is set to resume production next week, unless Fletcher decides to reshoot some scenes. Fletcher will also be overseeing post-production after finishing filming. 20th Century Fox fired Singer a few days ago because of his "growing clash" between Rami Malek, who'll be playing lead frontman Freddie Mercury in the film, a pattern of unreliability, and the absence from the set since Thanksgiving break. "Bohemian Rhapsody," which will also star Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, Gwilym Lee, Allen Leech, Lucy Boynton, Mike Myers, Aaron McCusker, Aidan Gillen and Tom Hollander, was written by Justin Haythe (Red Sparrow, Revolutionary Road). Fox is hoping that the film will still make it for its December 25th, 2018 release date. 20th Century Fox has announced that production on the upcoming Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" has been halted due to a 'health matter' with director Bryan Singer. Here's the official statement the studio released: "Twentieth Century Fox Film has temporarily halted production on Bohemian Rhapsody due to the unexpected unavailability of Bryan Singer." The reason is that "a personal health matter concerning Bryan and his family… Bryan hopes to get back to work on the film soon after the holidays," the directors representative told the BBC. While there is no information on the illness, it has been reported that both Singer and one of his family members are suffering from this health issue. In related news, The Hollywood Reporter adds that Singer hasn't returned to the set after the Thanksgiving break, reportedly leaving the films producers concerned about the production and "talking about potentially replacing him." The site also states that Rami Malek, who'll be playing lead frontman Freddie Mercury in the film, has "grown tired of Singer's behavior, which saw him routinely show up late to set." It also states that the film's cinematographer, Newton Thomas Sigel, had to step in and direct during a previous "non-showing." It's been reported that this isn't the first time Singer has vanished during a production. The director has momentarily disappeared while filming "X-Men: Apocalypse" and "Superman Returns". "Bohemian Rhapsody," which will also star Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, Gwilym Lee, Allen Leech, Lucy Boynton, Mike Myers, Aaron McCusker, Aidan Gillen and Tom Hollander, was written by Justin Haythe (Red Sparrow, Revolutionary Road). "Bohemian Rhapsody" will be arriving in theaters on December 25th, 2018. New pic of Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody!!!
20th Century Fox, New Regency and GK Films have released the first photo of star Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury in the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody. The film, featuring X-Men franchise director Bryan Singer at the helm, chronicles the band’s formation in 1970 all the way until their performance at Live Aid in 1985. Malek revealed to the outlet that when it comes time for him to be singing in the feature film, they will utilize not only his own voice, but also recordings of Mercury and a sound alike to fill in the gaps.Singer also revealed that the film won’t be a “traditional biopic” and will instead focus on the music of the band. “It won’t just be the dark Freddie story, but that being said, that also will be honored. It’s about collaboration. It’s a celebration.” Bohemian Rhapsody, the most recent draft of which hails from Academy Award-nominated scribe Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything), will tell the story of Mercury and his iconic rock band, Queen. Queen formed in London in the 1970s and is known today for hits like “We Will Rock You,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Killer Queen,” “Don’t Stop Me Now,” and many, many more. It hasn’t been specified exactly how much of Queen’s history will appear in Bohemian Rhapsody and there’s a good two decades between the band forming and Mercury’s tragic death in 1991. In addition to Malek, the Queen band members will be played by Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, and Gwilym Lee.
Bohemian Rhapsody is set to arrive in theaters on Christmas Day in 2018. #BohemianRhapsody#BryanSinger#FreddieMercury#RamiMalek#Queen#JoeMazzello#BenHardy#GwilymLee#20CenturyFox#GKFilms#BioPic

Obrigado, Flávia Lisboa Porto :) Rafael Casado Music
