And I hate to say I love you
When it's so hard for me
And I hate to say I want you
When you make it so clear
You don't want me
I'd never ask you 'cause deep down I'm certain I know what you'd say
You'd say, "I'm sorry, believe me, I love you but not in that way." And I hate to say I need you
I'm so reliant
I'm so dependent
I'm such a fool
When you're not there,
I find myself singing the blues.

One more from the other day, because it's my favorite of the day. 😀 Several months back, I noticed Bo seemed to be mimicking the gals. He was finding a corner somewhere and "nesting"...even making the little purring sound they make when they're getting ready to lay. I've never had a rooster before now, so I wondered if being so outnumbered, the boy was feeling left out or getting confused. 😀😉 Then finally one day, when none of the girls were paying this behavior any attention, Bo began adding the 'tidbitting' call. It suddenly dawned on me that it wasn't some strange behavior...he was finding a nest for his girls to lay in! If there's anything Bo enjoys more than protecting the flock, it's finding a nest. And I never tire from the enjoyment of discovering more about chicken behavior! This video shows his nest finding skills in action, as he successfully finds a nest for Maran...and doesn't he act so satisfied and proud? 😉😁

Throw back to just the other day before the storm, when I was comfortably sitting outside in a sweatshirt. 😎 Yesterday, I posted a video of Bo taking a small break from his duties to preen, but this is more what you will typically see out in the hen yard. Bo will be a year old next month, and it has been really awesome to watch him grow from "Little One", because believe it or not he was the tiniest and most timid chick; to "Little Man", once I was absolutely certain he was a cockerel; to Bo boy, due to a tendon injury he got at about 3 mos old that caused his left leg to "bow" out. I've mentioned this before, but I was told it would never heal and unless I wanted to make accomodations for him, I'd need to put him down. I was determined to work with him and give him a chance, and I'm happy to tell the tale that it didn't take long before my Bo boy proved that vet all wrong. 🐓🙄 His leg doesn't hold him back from anything at all! In fact, he's become quite the strong and fierce protector. Almost anytime I look out, I see him on duty. Always standing on alert and watching over the flock as they scratch, eat, nest, dustbathe, and go about their chicken ways. .
The calm before the storm... it's always nerve wracking waiting backstage - You have no idea whether the crowd will like you, let alone your music, or whether you'll remember all the words or just completely choke! Here I am curling my hair backstage at The Stables before going on stage to support @mattcardleofficial - I forgot 2 lines and stumbled in my high heels on the way to the stage! I wasn't feeling my best, after having food poisoning at the weekend, but the audience were so supportive and listened to every single note (even the bum ones!) and gave me so much encouragement - I felt very lucky to be there :) We might look pretty confident up there on stage but more often than not we're feel like deer in the headlights until we hear your applause!
