. . β–ΆToday, back in 1974, QUEEN played at the Rainbow Theatre for two consecutive nights (19 & 20) in London. . The responsible for it to happen was publicist and music promoter Mel Bush, seen with Freddie in the picture. The band returned to Mel to promote the tour, having previously worked with him during their Hoople tour the previous year. The idea to play at the Rainbow was something not very welcomed by Queen in the first place. . β–ͺ Brian May: 'He took a chance. We weren't big at the time. He booked a whole national tour of small theatres and said: 'By the time you finish it, you will be big enough to be at Rainbow!'. We were quite surprised because for us it was like a distant destination, because we had seen our heroes playing there, like when we all went to see David Bowie there. We thought: 'My God, wouldnt it be incredible if some day we could do something like this!'. So having Mel saying: 'Yes boys, you can do this', was very exciting, the climax of the tour'. . Once he convinced the band, they even had to add a second show at the Rainbow because the first one was sold out in two days. It was the perfect ending for their hard working tour. It could have been a disaster as the soundboard blew up and on the second night the sound cut out during Liar, leaving Roger Taylor with no option but to do a drum display whilst things were being fixed, with Freddie saying: 'Anybody who'd like to pose with us is cordially invited onto the stage!'. . Furthermore, the band were aggravated by the film crew, whom they felt were impeding their progress of connecting with the audience. Roger Taylor shows his frustration at the end of the show by smashing his drum kit. Regardless, this ended being one of the most epic performances of the band, musically impecable. After the tour Mel presented Queen with a plaque for selling out the whole November 1974 tour, as you can see on the gallery. . πŸ“Έ Gallery: Backstage moments and plaques given to the guys. Day 1 : How did you get into Queen ? // I got into Queen back in February while I was having somewhat of a depression cause I didn’t have a job,no money and I felt like I was my family’s disappointment so Freddie really became my « saviorΒ Β» if you could say πŸ˜… Anyway, I’ve been a huge fan ever since and I couldn’t be happier that Queen crossed my path for good πŸ’˜πŸ’˜ #queen #queenband #queenie #queen30daychallenge #rogertaylor #brianmay #fre#freddieury #johndeacon #farrokhbulsara #freddiebulsara #freddieforever #love #of #my #life #perfect #always #darling #dear #80s #70s #beautiful #freddie #mercury
