Antonio Griffo Focas Flavio Angelo Ducas Comneno Porfirogenito Gagliardi De Curtis di Bisanzio (15 February 1898 – 15 April 1967), best known by his stage name Totò born simply as Antonio De Curtis, and nicknamed il Principe della risata ("the Prince of laughter"), was an Italian comedian, film and stage actor, writer, and singer-songwriter. . Claudia Cardinale (born 15 April 1938) is an Italian Tunisian film actress and sex symbol who appeared in some of the most acclaimed European films of the 1960s and 1970s, mainly Italian or French, but also in several English films. . Outspoken on women's rights causes over the years, Cardinale has been a UNESCO goodwill ambassador for the Defense of Women's Rights since March 2000. This Friday we kick off our monthly program in #Toronto with Questione di karma starring #FabioDeLuigi and #ElioGermano, directed by #EdoardoFalcone. . PLOT: Giacomo is the heir of an industrial dynasty, but he is more interested in his multiple passions than in managing the company. His life was marked by the death of his father when he was just a child. The encounter with a French eccentric esotericist will change Giacomo’s life: in fact, the man claims to have identified the current reincarnation of his father. It would be Mario Pitagora, a quite materialist man, only interested in money and full of debts. This seemingly absurd encounter will change both their lives. . Purchase tickets at www.laltraitalia.org Vaughan Screening: Oct 26th @laltraitalia

The Godfather is a 1972 American crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Albert S. Ruddy, based on Mario Puzo's best-selling novel of the same name. It stars Marlon Brando and Al Pacino as the leaders of a fictional New York crime family. The story, spanning 1945 to 1955, chronicles the family under the patriarch Vito Corleone, focusing on the transformation of Michael Corleone (Pacino) from reluctant family outsider to ruthless mafia boss. Paramount Pictures obtained the rights to the novel for the price of $80,000, before it gained popularity. Studio executives had trouble finding a director; their first few candidates turned down the position. They and Coppola disagreed over who would play several characters, in particular, Vito and Michael. Filming was done on location and completed earlier than scheduled. The musical score was composed primarily by Nino Rota with additional pieces by Carmine Coppola. . The film was the highest-grossing film of 1972 and was for a time the highest-grossing film ever made. It won the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Actor (Brando) and Best Adapted Screenplay (for Puzo and Coppola). Its seven other Oscar nominations included Pacino, James Caan, and Robert Duvall for Best Supporting Actor and Coppola for Best Director. . The Godfather is widely regarded as one of the greatest films in world cinema and one of the most influential, especially in the gangster genre. . . #MovieQuoteMonday #MQM #quote #quoteoftheday #qotd #italianfilm #italianclassics #classicfilm #alpacino #marlonbrando #ICFF #ICFF17 #italianfilmfestival #celebrateitaly #italianculture
