It’s not everyday you come across a herd of elk this big, but this is Banff National Park for you. With cascade mountain looming in the background we couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity.
Maligne Canyon located just a few kilometres from the town of Jasper, Alberta offered way more than I had anticipated. If walking along the frozen canyon floor wasn’t enough, we found ourselves looking up to 50 metres skyward in areas as ice climbers demonstrated their epic endurance.
After hearing about Abraham Lake and it’s beautiful methane bubbles that become trapped beneath the frozen ice, it was only a matter of time before I was witnessing it with my own eyes.
Without a doubt, this was one of my winter bucket list items and I’m ecstatic to have checked it off only a couple weeks into 2018. ✅

The old saying goes “No pain, no gain”. That pretty much sums up the past few days as all my muscles seem to be sore from riding, hiking, running and jumping with excitement. Can’t wait to show you all a bunch of new photos from this area of Canada! 🇨🇦
In frame we got @sueshih demonstrating that phrase and also just how fun powder days can be at @sunshinevillage. 🏂
The trip has been one of a kind so far getting to revisit some of my favourite places along the Icefields Parkway but there is something even more special about shooting wildlife in your own backyard.
